Broiler chicks are started in a brooder with heat lamps and then raised free range on pasture and fed a CERTIFIED GMO FREE, SOY FREE and NON-MEDICATED feed by Texas Natural Feeds.
I am trying a strain of birds from S&G Poultry--bred from old White Plymouth Rock Stock--sturdy birds, with good muscling that can still forage.
A description taken from their website: "We are an Alabama company, providing colored-feathered, old style broiler chicks to the pastured poultry producer, live markets and other growers of great tasting chicken. All of our broiler chicks come from our own, proprietary breeding lines that we have naturally developed.
Why is this important to you? Because our birds are bred to be broilers, not birds with just pretty feathers, but baby chickens bred to be grown outdoors or indoors with good growth rates, feed conversion and meat on their bones. "
Our broilers will weigh 6-7 pounds processed, frozen and ready to cook.
